Obligatory duty

Road service is an obligatory duty of the vehicle dealer towards the customer. Road service refers to assistance rendered by the vehicle dealer to car owners / drivers when they encounter trouble on freeways or on long journeys. The vehicle dealer has to bail them out of crisis at that point of time.

Road service includes flat tire assistance, repair and maintenance of drive train, power train, engine failure, mechanical fault, steering system, brake mechanism and jump-starting. In case the vehicle default cannot be set right, it is mandatory on part of the auto dealer to tow the vehicle to the nearest workshop for repairs.

Normally, vehicle towing charges are based on the distance covered. The repairs will also be charged nominally. However, vehicle owners have to completely bear the cost of the spare parts, which have to be replaced for the faulty ones.

In case, the vehicle owner is not satisfied with the road service rendered by the car dealer, he / she have the freedom to enlist the services of an independent road service provider. Such providers are specialized in road service and offer value-added services such as alternative transport arrangement and lodging facilities on highways. However, their services are priced higher. They can be located through the Internet or advertisements published in various newspapers and magazines.
