Emergency road service has been launched under the concept of ‘help anywhere, anytime’ for the motorists. The emergency road service is operated by the local county administration in association with others such as freeway maintenance authority, transport department, emergency response units, medical services, law enforcement officials and auto dealers. There is no separate fee to become subscribers of emergency road service. The moment a new vehicle is registered, the car owner automatically becomes member of the emergency road service.

Under emergency road service, apart from attending to vehicular breakdowns, other services such as assisting stranded vehicles and the passengers, clearing the road from accidents and hurdles are carried out. If there is any mud slide or avalanche blocking the smooth movement of the vehicular traffic, it will be cleared by the authorities concerned. The emergency road service is basically meant to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the freeway. To ensure this, the personnel employed under emergency road service will be monitoring the traffic using remote video surveillance system. If there is a road accident, the law enforcement officials will arrive on the spot and clear the mess. If there are any injured motorists, they will be taken to the nearest hospital. If required, the injured will be airlifted to the hospitals.
