When buying a car for a teen driver it is important to consider safety and reliability. After all, teens don’t have a lot of experience. When car shopping for a young driver, cars should be considered that have good crash-test results and advanced safety features. This will hopefully keep your teen from avoiding roadside assistance calls.
For the most part big, heavy vehicles perform the best in crash tests. However, large cars can be hard to handle and often have lousy fuel economy. SUVs and large pickup trucks aren’t recommended for teens because they are more prone to roll over in an accident than other cars.
The best bet for teens is a mid-size sedan with good safety and crash ratings. Some cars that have these features are the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Sonata, Ford Focus, Mazda 3, Acura RSX and Subaru Impreza.
The best thing to do when buying a car for a teenager is to get the newest model possible that is reliable. Consult the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety to see crash results for cars that you are considering. These simple considerations will keep your teen from needing emergency roadside assistance.

Many times, motorists feel a false sense of security when they drive a big SUV. The vehicle size allows drivers to develop that misconception.
However, the truth is that many times an SUV rolls in the midst of an accident, and up to 35% of deaths in vehicles occur because of rolling. In addition, according to a study that was recently conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, an SUV’s roof strength has a direct correlation to the occupants’ risk of injury. This means that by making a vehicle’s roof stronger, injuries can be reduced greatly.
Currently, the United States government requires a vehicle to withstand a force that is 1.5 times the actual weight of the car before reaching 5 inches of crush. The governments would like to change that to 2.5 the vehicle’s weight for safety reasons.
Unfortunately, motorists never know when they may be involved in an auto accident. All that drivers can do is protect themselves by purchasing safe vehicles, have an emergency roadside assistance program, and take safety precautions on the road.

Consumers will find that vehicles can withstand more and more demands. Now, there is a plentitude of cars out there that are tough and reliable. Which cars are going to prevent you from having to call for road service?
Honda is a good place to start. Honda puts out vehicles that are safe and reliable. In addition, they need minimal repairs and experience few problems. The Odyssey is a prime example. It is ranked first on the list of durable cars. Also making the list is the Honda CRV, Pilot, Accord and Civic.
Other cars that are known for durability are small SUVs, such as the Volvo XC90 and the Subaru Forester. The Acura RDX and Audi A4 are luxurious and durable.
These cars were put on the durable cars list according to safety, vehicle performance, and history of complaints. Anyone looking to buy a new car would feel peace of mind in these vehicles. Of course, it never hurts to have emergency roadside assistance in case of unforeseen circumstances.

There is nothing worse than getting into your car and turning the ignition, just to find that your car won’t start. This is a daily occurrence for motorists, so it is important to know how to handle this situation. In addition to having a road service program, there are some things that you can do on your own.
A battery that is weak won’t supply ample current to rotate the motor at a high enough speed. This is why it is necessary to be able to jump-start your car. A red cover or cable marks the positive on your battery, and a black cover or cable marks the negative. Reversing the connections can result in a battery explosion. Be careful not to make this mistake. The explosion could cause severe burns or blindness.
If you turn the key and there is full power without starting, it is probably the park neutral switch. This is the clutch safety switch. If this happens in an automatic vehicle, make sure your vehicle is in “parkâ€, if it happens in a manual car, depress the clutch firmly to the floor and try to turn the key again.
There are numerous reasons why a car won’t start. These simple tips will help you handle matters yourself. However, if your car still won’t start, you need to call emergency roadside assistance to help you out. Then, you will need to take your car in for professional service.

Tired of winter weather? It’s not over yet. Friday, the National Weather Service of Cleveland issued a winter storm warning for almost all of Ohio, the northwest portion of Pennsylvania, and the western part of NY. In the southwest part of Ohio there were blizzard warnings from Cincinnati to Dayton. Warnings will be in effect until Sunday afternoon.
By middle of the day Friday, roads were slippery, which caused dozens of fender-benders and accidents. Also, traffic was slow on the highways and cars were bumper-to-bumper on I-90. Many people found themselves stranded on the side of the road in the snow. The lucky people were the ones who have a road service program to reach them quickly.
However, the worst is yet to come in Ohio, where up to 21 inches of snow is predicted. Motorists should try to stay home if possible. However, people who have to drive are advised to carry an emergency kit in their vehicles. This should include food, blankets, a shovel, and a cell phone. The phone is a necessity because in these conditions it is likely that you might have to call for emergency roadside assistance.

Emergency roadside assistance is for more than just roadside emergencies.
Emergency auto assistance provides the blanket of reassurance for any driver on the road. Some people think that it is an unworthy investment but if you own a new or used car or truck in less than perfect condition the chances are you’ll eventually find the need for general roadside assistance or tow-truck service. Even if your car is in the best condition, you may be the person who locks your keys in the car and will need locksmith service.
At the end of the day, it is your decision whether or not to purchase an emergency road service program. For a male driver with years of road experience and being the only driver in the family or at least for the vehicle in question, it is a convenience. But for a young driver with little or no experience, for a female driver, or for a family of drivers, a roadside assistance program is a necessity. It is a service that will assure both you and your family of protection from roadside emergencies that will inevitably pop up and have you stranded on the side of the road..

Your car or truck can not always guarantee your safety.
Though some credit has to go to automotive manufacturers and industry researchers who have made obvious attempts at producing better, safer vehicles, the fact remains that there is no guarantee your vehicle will not cease to operate at either a very inconvenient time or unsafe location.
Safety innovations and features added to many modern vehicles have certainly allowed them to protect their occupants in a way that years ago, was simply not possible. But cars and trucks today are still not infallible, and from time to time do breakdown. For the same reason that purchasing an auto warranty is still one of the basic necessities of owning a vehicle, an emergency auto assistance plan through a quality auto road service provider is one of the best investments in consumer can make.
Auto roadside assistance plans such as AAA, Better World, AutoRoadService.com, and General Motor’s Emergency Roadside Assistance plans are some of the best available. Handling of millions of road service requests per year, they are the staple of the industry.
Avoid feeling vulnerable when your vehicle breaks down at the side of the road by looking into membership with one of these trusted providers.

When my Ford died, it couldn’t call for help itself so instead it refused to move. Unfortunately once it refused I couldn’t even back out of my driveway. I put the car in drive, it rolled 10 feet and seemed to slam on its own brakes. It turned out that the car wasn’t dead but I just wouldn’t move. The wheels just spun in the alley’s deep snow. Â
It was then that I wished I had belonged to an auto road service program. If I had I could have just called from my cell and they would have come to my rescue. One of the roadside benefits offered by these emergency roadside assistance companies is vehicle extraction. Oh well, I’ll know better for next time.
