According to the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety, driving is a job that is full-time. They found that 94% of motorists had admitted to engaging in distracting activities while driving. Such activities included tuning the radio, eating, and tending to their children. They also found that 39% of the activities were a distracting while drivers were working. Another alarming statistic is that between 25% and 50% of accidents occur as a result of distracted drivers.

Automakers are adding more and more technology, gadgets, and entertainment systems into new vehicles. This means that motorists are going to be more distracted while driving. People will be paying attention to their MP3 players, DVDs, and navigation systems, which will cause more accidents. The best thing that drivers can do in order to protect themselves from distracted drivers is to avoid them if possible. Also, be sure to sign up with a roadside assistance program in the event that there is an accident. You do not want to be left stuck on the side of the road somewhere as a result of somebody else’s mistakes.
