After a long car chase in which one police car rolled over, car jacker Joseph Solomon Jr attempted something not too many folks would consider very sensible, even for a criminal – he attempted to carjack a tow truck driver and his rig. As it turns out, this road service provider saved the day by holding the miscreant captive until police arrived.

“Joseph Solomon Jr., 22, who has been on the run since Thursday, was arrested early Sunday morning on Old Ashley Road, police said.

Police were notified of an attempted car jacking late Saturday night on East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre. The suspect fit the description of Solomon, and a massive man hunt began, involving multiple police chases.

Bob Kadluboski of City Wide Towing, Wilkes-Barre, happened to be in the area of Old Ashley Road when Solomon attempted to highjack his tow truck.

A struggle ensued, and Kadluboski held Solomon at gunpoint until police arrived.

During the chase Saturday, Solomon attempted to highjack numerous vehicles before he approached Kadluboski.”

Kadluboski certainly did the community a favor, his captive appearing to be a rather accomplished criminal

“Solomon was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal mischief, fleeing and eluding police, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and traffic offenses.

He remains in the prison for lack of $1 million bail.”
